Calm, Connected, and Ready to Learn: Strategies for Nervous System Regulation
Regulation of the nervous system is a game-changer for creating environments where students and educators can connect, focus, and thrive. This session introduces practical strategies for fostering both self-regulation and co-regulation, along with key processes that support calm, intentional interactions. By understanding how the brain processes stress and responds to challenge, participants will gain tools to help students – and themselves – reach a balanced state where meaningful learning and connection are possible.
Participants will deepen their understanding of brain- and body-based regulation and explore ways to share this information with students, school staff, and families. Tools from the Regulated & Ready Quick Reference Guide offer accessible, ready-to-use strategies for managing stress, maintaining focus, and creating emotionally safe learning environments.
Through interactive activities and hands-on practice, attendees will leave with techniques to foster regulation, strengthen relationships, and transform classroom dynamics.
Learning Objectives:
Understand how self-regulation and co-regulation influence focus, behavior, and connection.
Identify common stressors and behavioral cues, and apply strategies to address them before escalation.
Practice tools that promote co-regulation and help create calm, supportive environments that empower student growth.
