Our two-hour virtual workshops will be interactive and fun with learning you can apply immediately with your students. Wherever you live in Montana, don’t miss out — register now!

Workshop #1 - Exploring Natural Disasters - What, Why & How?

Are your students and community prepared for wildfire? Flooding? Severe storms? Drought? Do they even know the risk of these natural disasters impacting them and the people they care about?

Students rarely think about natural disaster risk, but it’s a great way to integrate multidisciplinary and 3D thinking through real-world project-based learning. Discover fun and meaningful ways to guide your students to investigate place-based phenomena around natural disasters that impact where they live — observing, asking questions, researching, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, and creating innovative solutions. Earn 2 OPI Renewal Units.

Register for Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Register for Friday, October 20, 2023 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Workshop #2 - Engaging Learners for Real-World Science & Civic Action

Discover a proven process to engage students to investigate their community, identify root causes of problems, research policy and practices related to the problem, engage with stakeholders, and then work to effect positive change.

This research-based, student-driven inquiry approach is customizable and can align with multiple and cross-disciplinary standards. We will use natural hazards as a topic to unpack this process, but it can be applied to various concepts that impact lives and livelihoods in any school or community. Includes free instructional resources! Earn 2 OPI Renewal Units.

Register for Thursday, October 19 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Register for Friday, October 20 from 8:30-10:30 a.m.
