Engaging Today's Youth

Creating Connections in a Changing World

The pandemic has significantly impacted children and youth; they are now connecting with peers, family, and educators in new and different ways. The Alpha Generation (born between 2010 and 2024) is the largest and most technologically advanced generation in history. These young people are growing up in a world that is very different from the one their parents and grandparents grew up in.

In this highly engaging, 2-day workshop, you will:

  • Learn about the unique needs of GenAlpha and how they want to engage with adults.

  • Discover and practice strategies for creating supportive environments that safely connect with youth in ways that matter to them.

  • Explore and understand the strength-based Full Color Web of Support™ framework and how to create meaningful youth and adult connections.

  • Assess your own relationship-building skills and learn how to make yourself accessible as an adult so that kids choose to connect with you.

Engaging with today's youth is more important than ever before. They are the future leaders of our world, and we need to invest in their success. Don’t miss this opportunity to empower youth to reach their potential and thrive in school and life!

Who Should Attend?   Anyone working in or with schools/after-school programs, youth-serving organizations, faith-based organizations, juvenile justice/school resource officers, parents/guardians (including foster, adoptive, etc.), and students in college education/educational leadership programs. High school students are welcome when accompanied by an adult! Register now!

Navigating the Nervous System for Relationships & Regulation

This engaging and collaborative workshop offers many tools and strategies to encourage and grow adult and youth resiliency. Participants will elevate their self-awareness so they can create purposeful, calm, and safe environments where everyone feels respected and supported. We will provide insight into the neuroscience behind the strategies, tools, and techniques we share, including resources that will allow you to dig deeper. We will also offer you intentional opportunities to pause and reflect so you can celebrate the new understanding, ponder the experiences, and carve your own path. We will explore research-driven concepts and skills that can help you cope with stress, improve your relationships, and live more fulfilling lives.

During this two-day, deep-dive session, we will:

  • Explore and understand Dr. Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model to regulate, relate, and reason.

  • Introduce the “Window of Tolerance” from Dan Siegel's work as it relates to understanding the optimal zone of “arousal” for a person to function in everyday life. When operating within this zone or window, people can effectively manage and cope with their emotions.

  • Understand Dr. Stephen Porges’s Polyvagal Theory and explore how you can identify and value the various states of your nervous system.

  • Explore the three Cs: Context, Choice, and Connection.

  • Learn and practice techniques to teach neuroscience to youth so they understand what is happening in their brains.

  • Gain strategies to prioritize your life and find your “why.”

You will leave feeling inspired to embrace your resilience and forge an authentic and satisfying life for yourself, children & youth, and others around you.

Who Should Attend?  School counselors, mental health workers, social workers, family support/counseling specialists, and college students. High school students are welcome with an accompanying adult. Register now!
